WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAD TO SAY
Thank you Gentlemen for your prompt arrival, speedy and efficient work and thoroughness today.     Best of continued success
                                           Harry B.

The kindness and professionalism you and your team extended was instrumental in helping both her and me say goodbye to my dad in a way we had not done before now. My gratitude to you is immense.  From our first phone call through yesterday's auction, you have been so helpful, guiding me through the process with patience, good information, and encouraging enthusiasm.  I am appreciative beyond these words.
With continuing gratitude,
                                          Valerie H

This letter is to thank you for your personal attention, and the fine care from your staff members Bill, and Brenda.  The Grandfather Clock Works and Pendulum are now back in the Rose wood cabinet that matches our dining room furniture. The clock runs beautifully and keeps superb time.  Work done in the two previous shops left us disappointed. We are thrilled with Braxton's

An Auction Story
I first went to a Braxton’s auction about three years ago, where I bought an old pedestal table (half the base was not secure) and a couple of other items. I had looked around at the preview but never saw the table until it came up for auction. I got it fairly cheap; I knew the base alone would be worth what I paid for the table. When I got home I found a label on the underside of the table of the Larkin Furniture Company. I’d never heard of them but did some internet research and discovered the company was a household name 100 years ago and my table was probably made around 1916.

I didn’t really need the table so I repaired the pedestal and put everything together. With its four leaves it was about 8’ long! I put it in our consignment booth along with info about the Larkin Company. Several people said I could get a lot of money if I painted it but it was hard for me to think about putting paint on the beautiful tiger oak wood grain.

I put the table on Craigslist and finally put it up for auction on eBay as a “local pickup only.” About a week later I got the notice that the table sold on eBay, but when I looked I noticed the buyer lived near Boston! I emailed him to make sure he understood I wasn’t shipping it and he said he understood. He only asked if it would fit in the back of an SUV. He was planning to fly to Atlanta, rent a Tahoe or something similar, come to my house and get the table, then drive back home. I was beginning to wonder if I had sold something really valuable for just a few hundred dollars! Then I noticed that the buyer was Daniel Larkin. When I asked if he was perhaps related to the founder of the Larkin Furniture Company he said it was his great, great grandfather and he had been searching for an affordable Larkin piece (with the label) for years, so when he saw mine he was willing to buy it as well as pay at least twice what the table cost to get it back home.

A few days later I found a local, independent trucker who was going to MA a couple of weeks afterward and would deliver the table for about $200, so ultimately the buyer didn’t have to come to Atlanta to get it.

I never followed up on the table after I heard it had been delivered but was glad to be a part of helping bring about this odd “family reunion”!

Just thought you’d like to hear “the rest of the story” of one of your auction pieces!
